Why are traditional designer lights using the power from the grid? Because solar engineering makes it too complex and costly for designers to bring sustainable powered products to the market. This impede real sustainable design and contributes to environmental concerns such as pollution and energy efficiency. It’s time to renew this tradition. Kinichy is unique for solar development and low-power light performance. Our approach to solar engineering and design are drastically more sustainable, transforming scientific knowledge to empower future light design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION The project started in 2019 in Barcelona and continues in Pitarque, natural reserve, Aragon. The first stable prototype runs since October 2020 up today in a mountain spot under all weather conditions. We’ve built a local mini-factory that uses 3D printing technology for the body parts and basic electronic tools to produce the e-circuit. In December 2020 we have started production and sales. Since February 2021 we are developing a product family.
PRODUCT Kinichy’s are a portable spotlights operated by environmental light conditions that provide surprisingly powerful illumination in a beautifully crafted sculpture made from digital printing filaments. When dusk appears, it comes alive; beaming a powerful natural white spot that you can adjust with the rotating eye and a full color smooth fading light. At dawn, automatically turns off the light and it changed into the charge mode.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Super simple Kinichy’s responding automatically at dusk and dawn. No instructions needed. Simply place during daytime the black panel towards the sun or where you find the best daylight conditions. The future success of the Kinichy project depends on taking urgent action from society.
